2023 Winter/Spring Season featuring our artist friends:
March 10th thru 12th is the largest event of the year at the beautiful Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction, Arizona! Here we feature both the art of Oaxaca and Mata Ortiz, Mexico!! Our largest group of master artists all in one location! We are proud to feature Master Potter and fan favorite Lila Silveira, with her signature and elegant Mata Ortiz pottery! Joining her from Mata Ortiz will be her sister, multiple award winning potter Trini Silveira. Also featured from Mata Ortiz will be mutli award winning potter Elvira Bugarini. From Oaxaca, Porfirio Gutierrez will also be returning. Porfirio is an amazing weaver, recognized by the Smithsonian Museum for his efforts in preserving his Zapotec Indian traditions through naturally dyed, stunning weavings! Porfirio will be returning to the Superstition Mountain Museum after having just completed filming with National Geographic in Oaxaca. Also returning is Yesenia Salgado, an award winning Oaxacan filigree jewelry artist who was selected in 2018 and 2019, to be featured at the highly competitive Santa Fe International Folk Art Market, and just received notice that she was invited back for 2020 as well! Yesenia is one of only five families that are still honoring this ancient art form in Oaxaca! This years wood carvers will be represented by Julia Fuentes and Armando Jimenez! Armando will demonstrate the carving of his fantastic figures, and Julia will show people her expert techniques used to paint her gorgeous wood carvings.
